Based on our research from the Prediction phase, along with valuable resources from previous studios and other groups, Alyssa and I began reimagining the lakefront area in the Lakeview neighborhood.

existing conditions
From the site visit and site-specific ArcGIS research, we identified several challenges in the area: rising lake levels and more intense and frequent storm surges, scarce trees in the park, extensive areas of impervious surfaces, limited youth spaces, lack of public transportation, and inefficient water management.

site-specific research

Therefore, we’re proposing a linear park that maximizes tree coverage, creates play zones and sports zones for youths and people of all ages, promotes public transportation and pedestrian use, and eliminates water runoff into neighboring communities.

effects of sea level rise (and therefore lake level rise) and more intense and frequent storm surges on the site

Despite this project being site-specific, the idea of developing along the lakefront by zones is potentially replicable in any lakefront area in the Greater New Orleans area, linked by a water taxi system.
