pedestal possibilities

Using the same objects, we worked in pairs to create concrete pedestals to hold our objects. Our idea was to use three different fabrication methods to make a general wavy pattern with three distinct textures that carried through from one pedestal to the next.

After digitally carving out where the objects would “sit,” we created the object molds using 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining. We then made two matching frames, placed the molds, and poured concrete over them. We used matching mixing sticks to ensure the pedestals were at a consistent height, and used a mixture of sawdust and wood glue to fill up the cracks between the “pattern negative” and “object negatives.”
